At the confluence of the Loing and the Seine, Moret–Loing–Orvanne brings together a layered identity: a recognised medieval heritage, sensitive alluvial landscapes, and a strong industrial and artisanal legacy still visible along the canal and in the urban fringes.
Urbastudio is supporting the municipality in the transformation of two key sectors — the Faubourg d’Ecuelles and the canal edges — to restore coherence and clarity to a territory shaped by infrastructure, ageing business areas and flood risks.
The study is grounded in a close reading of the site: fluvial heritage, agricultural patterns, emerging cycling routes, residential fabrics, as well as industrial and commercial brownfields now entering a new cycle. This diagnostic underpins a framework plan aimed at reconnecting the different pieces of the territory, clarifying uses, and revealing the understated qualities of the Loing and Orvanne landscapes.
Ecological transition serves as a structural driver for this recomposition: soil renaturation, integrated stormwater management, canal-edge restoration, traffic calming, and a strengthened network of soft mobilities. Through measured densification and the renewal of strategic brownfields, the framework plan seeks to re-establish a meaningful relationship with water — canal, rivers, wetlands — and to anchor these districts within a more resilient, accessible and place-specific living environment.
